In this year The Bled Festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The ambition to unite acknowledged Slovene and foreign musicians was always one of its first prerogatives, as well as promoting new works by contemporary composers. It has introduced the so called »Composer's Portret« concert evening. This way, more then 100 first performances were performed by Slovene and foreign artists. On its Jubilee it will host The Slovene Composer's Night for the 2nd time and together with the Society of Slovene Composers organize a solemn Mass to honor another anniversary – 100 years of the Church of Bled.
A special quality of The Bled Festival is a concept of combining standard classical music repertoire with the 20th and 21st century composing streams in each concert, which gives the Festival a remarkable characteristic, well known at home and abroad.
The Bled Festival hosts violin and viola competition, unique in its homeland, also for its international acknowledgment as an »EMCY« member (since October 2004).
The Bled Festival is very active in the pedagogic field, with its master-classes led by Slovene and foreign teachers-performers. It welcomes students, soloists and composers to take part and it gives a chance to perform at the Festival concerts to the best ones. At the same time it offers to learn from the performers/composers rich experiences. All that makes this festival stand clearly apart from many other festivals at home as well as abroad.
The Bled Festival along with its artistic director Jernej Brence was awarded with many Slovene and international awards: Medal of honor of the town of Bled, The Lord Yehudi Menuhin award (congratulation), The Slovene Composers Society award, The Fellowship of Fritz Kreisler of Vienna award and The Betett muniment.
