The International Music Festival Bled is a renowned music project held in the first half of July in Bled.
It features classical music, jazz and chansons. Every year the Festival grows, and the variety of supporting events (master classes, international viola and violin competitions, violinmaker workshops, exhibitions of paintings and photos) enhances its sophisticated and complex character, unique even in the international panorama.
A special quality of The Bled Festival is a concept of combining standard classical music repertoire with the 20th and 21st century composing streams in each concert, which gives the Festival a remarkable characteristic, well known at home and abroad.
Every year, hundreds of young musicians from all over the world come to Bled to attend master classes and international violin and viola competitions. Driven by their ambition to excel, musicians wrap the town in a musical haze and the sound fills hotels and houses, sometimes even forcing its way out into the open space.
The Bled Festival along with its artistic director Jernej Brence was awarded with many Slovene and international awards: Medal of Honor of the town of Bled, The Lord Yehudi Menuhin Award (congratulation), The Slovene Composers Society Award, The Fellowship of Fritz Kreisler of Vienna Award and The Betetto Muniment.
