''Balkan Boys - World Genres, Balkan Tepmerament''

From rehearsals in the basement of the Student Residence to performances in Stožice
Last year, Balkan Boys celebrated their 15th anniversary. For almost half of their lives, the boys have been on stage, where they have been impressing many with their unique Balkan sound, the rhythms of the world and their energetic performances.
In September, the band served us a musical treat with the release of their fourth album - Grill.
Balkan Boys are no ordinary Balkan band. They are the purest reflection of what the Balkans are fundamentally about and how much love, good humour and dance music, backed by a strong temperament, they have to offer.
Balkan Boys express their perception of the Balkan character through ethno, world, folk music. The sound of the Balkans in the rhythms of the world!
The idea of founding Balkan Boys started in 2007, when the singer and their first trumpet, Rok Nemanič Nemo, visited the heart of trumpet music and energy - the Gučo festival. The desire to create this or a related genre of music continued to smoulder for the next two years, when in 2009 the group finally came into being with the aim of uniting generations through Balkan rhythms, soul and energy.
In the early years, they devoted themselves to exploring and finding their unique sound, which they first presented to the public in 2012, on their still somewhat fledgling debut album 'From Zabledam'.
Their musical development and unique musical style, which they themselves called Balkan pop fusion - in addition to Balkan, it also combines elements of gypsy music, ska, reggae, swing and rumba - brought them more and more recognition in the years that followed, and with it collaborations with various Slovenian and foreign greats such as Magnifico, Zlatko, Rudi Bučar, Vlado Kreslin, Goran Bregović, Dubioza Kolektiv and others.
In 2015, they released their second album 'Radio Me Gusta' and continued their style of touring domestic and foreign stages, smaller and bigger festivals, as a solo band or in collaboration with interesting, popular and master musicians.
In 2019, after the release of their third album Welcome to the Gipsyland, their music and performances do not go unnoticed even by foreign festival organisers, which is why they have been invited to Woodstock des Blasmusik (Aut) and Gronau Jazz Festival (Niz), among others.
Balkan Boys, a large ensemble that has risen from the basement of a boarding school to the big stages of the Slovenian music scene, has quickly found its way to the audience with its 'musical hedonism' and the fun they bring wherever they go.
