Jan Sever is one of the most prominent pianists of his generation. He studied
in Ljubljana and during his studies he received numerous national and international
He is also a recipient of the student Prešeren Prize. In addition to
his solo work, he has also devoted a great deal of attention to chamber music, and
has collaborated with many of the most prominent Slovenian soloists. After his studies he
first worked as an accompanist at the Conservatory of Music and Ballet
Ljubljana and the Academy of Music, and later continued as a professor at the
piano at the Ljubljana Conservatory of Music and Ballet. He has recorded several
CDs, recorded for RTV Slovenia, and released a solo CD with
works by Frederic Chopin. Since 2005 Sever has been pursuing parallel
his second musical path, which has led him through various tango
( Astorpia, Funtango, Quatroportango ), to ethno, jazzfusion
bands ( G.Bojcevski Quartet, Moonlight Sky ), and finally to
solo piano improvisation evenings, where he presents his
his own music.
He first appeared as a piano improviser at the City Museum in Ljubljana in 2017.
With this landmark event, original music is becoming more and more central to Sever's musical activity.
